Reporting to the State Leader VIC/SA Relational Fundraising, we have an exciting opportunity to join this national organisation as Relationship Manager - Major Gifts. Based in our VIC State Office in Melbourne CBD, you will be responsible for growing fundraising revenues, through winning and managing a portfolio of private major donors and trusts and foundations, which contributes to (the state) team targets and to the broader national Relational Fundraising targets.
For this role you will have:
- Experience in a sales environment with a focus on new business development skills.
- Confident yet sensitive approach, excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
- Enthusiastic, results focused and highly organized, with the ability to manage several priorities at once.
- Ability to work well within a cohesive team and have high levels of initiative and motivation.
- A passion for making a difference in the community.
- Flexibility for occasional travel

Description:
The R E Ross Trust is a perpetual charitable trust established in Victoria in 1970 by the will of the late Roy Everard Ross. Since its inception, the Ross Trust has distributed over 80 million dollars in more than 4,000 grants for charitable purposes in Victoria. The Trust is governed by five Trustees and has a small staff based in the Trust’s office in South Melbourne. The Trust derives its income from investments and businesses.
The role of Program Manager is one of two equivalent full time positions at the Trust. The role is responsible for contributing to the Trust’s grant making and value adding strategies, as well as participating in the overall effectiveness of the Trust’s activities. The Program Managers have a portfolio of responsibilities which support the areas of impact of the Trust and work alongside each other to ensure high quality grant making outcomes, in a team environment. The role reports to the CEO and supports the Grants & Office Manager and is part of a small team.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a small team and contribute to the shared achievements of the Trust
- Program management skills and the ability to work within and improve existing systems
- Existing understanding of the not for profit sector and government, particularly the philanthropic sector and charitable granting
- High level research, analytical, writing and communication skills
- Ability to develop new relationships and ways of working to support the Trust’s Areas of Impact
- Competent in using databases and Microsoft applications
- Ability to contribute to planning and delivery of the Trusts strategic directions
- Ability to work with a broad range of people including grant seekers, Trustees, government officials, community representatives and philanthropic colleagues
- Good general knowledge and an enquiring approach to a broad range of subjects and a willingness to learn from others
- Ability to travel, mainly within Victoria
Key Responsibilities:
- Research grant applications within the Trust’s impact areas producing quality written reports in a timely manner
- Management and administration of current grants
- Represent the Trust at a broad range of events
- Develop new granting opportunities including preparation of briefing papers
- Support the CEO in an area of corporate responsibility
