Giving Online
There are now many ways to assist charities and community groups online. This includes online financial donations, seed funding, micro-volunteering, microfinancing, and resource donation matching.
Sourcing funds through online networks is often referred to as crowdfunding.
New giving portals are popping up online all the time; as such, when giving money it's always best to do a background check that the site you may be giving funds through is legitimate. If their founding country is outside of Australia, you may not be able to claim a tax deduction for your donation.
This is not intended as an exhaustive list; below are just a few online giving portals. All of these sites are accessible to Australian residents.
