I am a subscriber. Why can't I use all of the Online Services?

Your username is your email address. This will be the email address you provided to Philanthropy Australia upon subscribing or joining as a Member.

You can retrieve your password automatically by following the "Forgotten password" link on the login page. You will then be prompted to enter your email address and request to be sent your password. If the address matches the one in our database, you should receive your password at that address within a few minutes.

If you do not know which email address you are subscribed with, please contact us.

I am returned to the login page with an 'Incorrect username/password' message

Please be aware that the username format has been recently changed and now all usernames are email addresses.

First use the Forgotten Password retrieval service to have your password emailed to you.

If you do not receive an email within a few minutes with your password, contact the Philanthropy Australia office to ascertain whether you are using the correct login details. You may not have access because your Subscription or Membership has expired.

The system is not allowing me to login

If you are:

Please try the following options:

» What address are you trying to access?

If you keep being returned to the login page with no error message, you may already be logged in successfully.

If your address bar says http://www.philanthropy.org.au/login, your web browser is assuming the login page is where you want to be. You can return to the Philanthropy Australia home page and then navigate to whatever service you are logging in to reach (such as the Online Directory or your Control Panel).

» Make sure cookies are enabled on your browser

Many websites send your computer very small files called 'cookies' so that they can identify you the next time you visit. When you return to a site that has sent a cookie, the site retrieves the cookie, identifies you, and personalizes the webpages you see. If you do not have cookies enabled, the Philanthropy Australia site will not be able to recognise that you are logged in, and you will not have access.

» Check the date on your computer calendar

For security reasons, the website login system is set to provide each user a 'timing out' function: if you login and fail to 'log out', after a certain time of inactivity, the system will automatically log you out.

In order to record how long you have been inactive, the system reads the date and time when you log in to the website. If your computer calendar is incorrect - set earlier than the actual date - the system will have difficulty correctly carrying out the 'time out' function. In other words, as soon as you log in, the system will read your computer date as long in the past, and automatically log you out.

To fix this problem, you will need to correct the date on your computer calendar. If you are using Windows, you will see the current time displayed in the bottom right corner of your screen. Double-clicking on the time ought to bring up the computer calendar. Correct the date, and click OK.

If you receive a message about priveleges when attempting to open the calendar, contact your IT administrator.
